This seminar is in conjunction with the 1999 series. It will be presented in the 1966 Hall, prior to the 11:40am matinee of THE IRON GIANT. Film tickets and seminar tickets are sold separately.
When THE IRON GIANT was first released in the summer of 1999, it was a hit with critics but ignored by audiences. Twenty-five years later, it’s considered an overlooked masterpiece and one of the last great traditionally animated films to come out of Hollywood. Prior to the Belcourt’s presentation of THE IRON GIANT, 2D animators Nathan Morrow and Skylar Wilson from the Nashville-based animation studio Skybone Studios will discuss this seminal cult classic and its impact on the world of animation. Join us for a conversation about creating 2D animation, the storied history of THE IRON GIANT production, and the rise and fall of 2D animation in the 1990s.
