MEN IN BLACK

Part of Invasion!

N.Y.P.D. officer, James Edward (Will Smith), is recruited by the mysterious Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones), to join him in protecting the Earth from intergalactic scum. The two work for an opulent, top-secret intelligence agency known as the MiB. When the safety of New York City is threatened by extraterrestrial terrorists, Agent Jay and Agent Kay must suit up and defend their planet once again.

“It's sci-fi and it's funny. Really funny… This is a big budget event movie not relying on its effects. It's the unexpected chemistry between seen-it-all Agent K (Jones) and whippersnapping new recruit Agent J (Smith, clearly cast for all the Will Smith ‘vibe’ he can muster) that makes MIB sing.” —Ian Nathan, Empire Magazine

“The droll conceit of Barry Sonnenfeld's hugely elaborate new sci-fi comedy is that this is nothing special or even strange. Perfectly unflappable, never surprised by the stray eye stalk or tentacle, the Men in Black simply go about their world-weary business as if this were THE FRENCH CONNECTION, which is one of the film's conscious inspirations, along with the television series "The Man from U.N.C.L.E. As for another, the matter-of-fact Man in Black named K (Tommy Lee Jones) explains why space creatures sometimes stop here: ‘Did you ever see the movie CASABLANCA?' Same thing, except no Nazis.’” —Janet Maslin, New York Times (Jul 1, 1997)

The snappy sci-fi hoot MEN IN BLACK...is a kind of INDEPENDENCE DAY for smart people. —Susan Wloszcayna, USA Today
