When the National Guard fires on an unresponsive craft in American airspace, its alien inhabitants (Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin) crash near Manhattan and must assimilate to life in suburbia while waiting for their rescue — despite their odd appearance and monotone voices. Based on the sketches by Lorne Michaels, who produced the film, CONEHEADS was written by Aykroyd and SNL writers Tom Davis, and Bonnie and Terry Turner (see also: TOMMY BOY, WAYNE’S WORLD), who would later revise the premise for the TV show 3rd Rock from the Sun. Featuring an insanely stacked support cast of SNL members members and regulars, including David Spade, Chris Farley, Julia Sweeney, Phil Hartman, Adam Sandler, Laraine Newman, Garrett Morris, Drew Carey, Jan Hooks and on and on and on.
