In conjunction with the SNL Cinematic Universe series, the Belcourt presents a conversation with former SNL music booker Jim Pitt. While Pitt is now the music producer for Jimmy Kimmel Live, many locals know him from the days he booked music for Late Night with Conan O’Brien, working remotely from Nashville. During that time, he also booked and promoted dozens of shows at the Belcourt — including Kris Kristofferson, Norah Jones, Joan Baez, Leon Russell, Bright Eyes, Stereolab, Gililan Welch and David Rawlings, and Nick Lowe. Pitt’s TV career began as an NBC page, working his way up to become the music booker at Saturday Night Live in 1990. From Nirvana’s network television debut to Sinead O’Connor’s headline-making performance to booking Radiohead as Conan’s first music guest, Pitt has had a front row seat to some of the most memorable moments in late night TV history.
