Filmmaker Sam Green has worked with the likes of Kronos Quartet and Yo La Tengo to create his live, interactive documentaries in performance spaces worldwide. In a version created for cinemas, his latest work 32 SOUNDS is an immersive, amusing and freewheeling exploration of how sound shapes and moves us. In collaboration with electronic musician JD Samson (Le Tigre), Green takes the audience on a journey through time and space — exploring everything from forgotten childhood memories, to the soundtrack of resistance, to subaquatic symphonies — to experience in new ways the astonishing sounds of our everyday lives.
Limited capacity screenings presented in Binaural 3D audio. A clean, sanitized set of wireless headphones will be provided to each audience member upon arrival. Please consider buying tickets in advance and arriving a few minutes early. All showtimes will take place in our upstairs Manzler/Webb Screening Room.
“We’re suddenly aware of our brains processing the sound and thus allowing us to feel, spatially, where the man is. When he blows into the ear of the microphone, it’s as if he’s blowing into our ears. The same pressure wave is being produced through our headphones, and we suddenly feel like we’re right there.” —Alex Heeney, Seventh Row “Full to bursting with humor, emotion and curiosity… A uniquely mind-expanding plunge into a dimension of the human experience so many of us take for granted, a rare and rewarding sonic journey.” —Peter Debruge, Variety “Designed to be enjoyed with a pair of headphones big enough to silence any unintended noise…32 SOUNDS wants nothing more than to send audiences back out into the world with ears wide open.” —David Ehrlich, IndieWire
